Innovative digital platform FAIR@Link has been introduced at Hamburg Airport.

In October 2019, Hamburg Airport (HAM) implemented the FAIR@Link digital platform from the Hamburg-based software company DAKOSY. The platform is used for cargo handling at the cargo center of Hamburg Airport. This is the latest step in the airport’s digitalization strategy to simultaneously improve efficiency and streamline air cargo operations at Europe’s largest airport.

FAIR@Link provides a digital platform where freight forwarders can book slots for shipping to US through a dedicated app. With pre-booked slots, the platform helps reduce waiting and handling times while increasing transparency in the airport transport chain for stakeholders. The platform supports improved workflow for working with agents, eliminates the need for re-entry or duplication of data, which helps to avoid errors and save time. The system will also help prepare export customs declarations and then automatically send electronic forms to customs when entering the geofence of the Hamburg airport customs office.

In addition to Hamburg Airport and DAKOSY, the forwarders Cross Freight Internationale Speditionsges, Delta-Stallion, a.hartrodt and SABLE, the handling agents LUG and Swissport, the Hamburg Customs and the Hamburg Freight Forwarders Association (VHSp) became participants in the pilot project.

According to the participants, at the pilot stage, the project has proven itself from the best side: the efficiency of all processes has increased significantly.

Jens Sorgenfrei, Managing Director of Cross Freight, commented: “Vehicles pre-registered through the FAIR@Link platform are given priority when handled by airport handling agents. Booking slots saves us several hours every day. Processes are easier to plan. In addition, we win in terms of customs clearance.”

The FAIR@Link platform is used for efficient cargo handling at Frankfurt and now Hamburg airports, and allows all companies involved in cargo handling procedures, in particular cargo handling agents, freight forwarders and airlines, to speed up and optimize import and export cargo transportation.

The FAIR@Link platform is modular and adaptable to the specific requirements of the respective airports and their logistics customers. Depending on individual needs, it can also support processes related to customs, security, dangerous goods transport – and in many cases can be automated.

Hamburg International Airport Helmut Schmidt Airport (Hamburg Airport Helmut Schmidt) is the oldest operating airport in Germany. It was opened in January 1911. Hamburg Airport is now the fifth busiest commercial airport in Germany, with 17,231,687 passengers in 2018 and 156,388 aircraft. In 2018, about 80,000 tons of air cargo was sent through Hamburg Airport, which is 6% more than in 2017.

International air cargo transportation in Ukraine is successfully carried out by M&M Ukraine (head office in Kiev, subdivision in Borispol and Odessa) in all promising and demanded world directions. “M&M Ukraine” provides high-quality and safe cargo transportation from China to Ukraine, from Ukraine to China.
