Autonomous technology pioneer Einride receives $10 million to commercialize projects using its autonomous truck.

In March 2020, many large companies in the robotics and artificial intelligence industries were forced to leave the scene, which in turn caused serious concerns among the representatives of the autonomous trucking industry. On the contrary, since the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a significant shift in the global market towards finding a more efficient contactless way to carry out cargo transportation. During this time, the innovative company Einride successfully forged new partnerships, including the involvement of two main partners, Oatly and Lidl.

Einride, a Swedish technology company that develops and provides freight transport solutions based on electric and autonomous vehicles, has announced it has raised $10 million in new investment from a group of investors led by investment fund Norrsken VC. This new round of funding will be used to speed up the official launch of its Einride Pods vehicles and meet huge demand from existing customers including Oatly, Lidl and a few others.

According to the company, Einride is a pioneer among its competitors and offers profitable manufacturing solutions. It is also the first trucking startup to operate driverless autonomous heavy vehicles on public roads. Einride is the only company that operates these vehicles on a daily basis at customer sites.

In October, the company unveiled its revolutionary next-generation truck, the Einride Pod, featuring a sleek and futuristic design that makes next-generation trucks more aerodynamic and capable. With remote monitoring and control capabilities, operators can monitor and control the Pod on demand, without the need for a human driver on board. The company is preparing for mass production and commercialization on a global scale.

“There are many fears and doubts about autonomous trucking, but the fact remains that this is one of the biggest business opportunities in the history of mankind. We have a unique opportunity to make transport much safer and more environmentally friendly. This is the goal that the vast majority of us want to achieve, but many do not know how to achieve it and resort to half measures. We expect the autonomous vehicle industry to expand exponentially in the coming years, especially in the wake of the global pandemic,” added Robert Falk, CEO of Einride.

In addition to developing advanced autonomous technologies and launching the Einride Pod, the company offers a freight mobility operating system that intelligently manages the transition to electric and autonomous freight transport at the level of a single transport network. With additional funding and strategic input from Norrsken VC, a new member of Einride’s advisory board, Einride plans to continue its transition to autonomous and sustainable freight transport in the future.

“Eliminating CO2 emissions causing rapid climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity. As one of the largest emitters of emissions, road transport will have a huge impact on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in the coming years. At Norrsken, we have partnered with Einride since the beginning and are proud to continue to support their work to bring electric and autonomous vehicles to life,” commented Niklas Adalbert, co-founder of Klarna and the Norrsken Foundation.Einride is a Swedish technology company that develops and provides freight transport solutions based on electric and autonomous vehicles. Founded in 2016 by Robert Falk, Linnea Cornehead and Philip Lilha, it was the first company in the world to operate an autonomous all-electric truck on commercial routes on public roads. The company recently launched the Einride Mobility Platform, a cloud-based transportation system for autonomous, electric and traditional road transportation. Through the platform, customers can use real-time information and actionable insights to achieve the goals of sustainable, cost-effective and high-performance transport logistics.

Norrsken VC is part of the Norrsken Foundation, which believes that entrepreneurs building businesses that scale quickly are the best tool to solve the world’s biggest problems. The Norrsken Foundation is a non-profit foundation founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 2016.
