Marketable products arriving at the carrier must be prepared in accordance with the requirements of the rules for the carriage of goods. Goods have a regulated marking, are packed in a shipping container that excludes damage and weight loss during transportation. International delivery of goods requires the application of a special system of designations, numbers, letters, signs that indicate the rules for handling the goods, completeness, degree of danger or its absence, belonging to a particular batch and consignor. There are the following types of markings:

  • Shipping designations indicate the belonging of the consignment. Signs are applied to the commodity packaging, indicating the details of the consignor. The information is duplicated in the TTN (consignment note);
  • a trade mark is applied indicating the physical and chemical properties of the cargo, specific requirements for transportation, if any – temperature conditions, a ban on overturning, capsizing; manufacturer information;
  • transport marking is applied to indicate the number and completeness of the batch, the number of places when loading into a body, the method of loading;
  • a special mark is indicated if the requirements of the shipper are beyond the standard. Special designations include information on the degree of danger of the transported substance, storage rules, features of physical and chemical properties – the ability to ignite, explosiveness, interaction with air in case of leakage; acceptable methods of loading and unloading the consigned substance.

Transport marking is applied to the package – in barrels on the bottom, in bags near the top seam, in boxes on the side, in bales on the end surface. When preparing goods for transportation, shippers use the following types of marking:

  • electrolytic, typographic, lithographic;
  • stamping;
  • paint applied through a stencil;
  • marking device;
  • by the method of punching on a transport container or super container;
  • by burning out the corresponding character or batch number.
