International cargo transportation requires careful attention. Moving cargo over long distances is always a risk, but it can be minimized if you choose the right carrier. We’ll tell you what to look out for.

How to choose a logistics company?

There are a lot of companies on the service market that offer cargo delivery, including international, but you should not pay attention to loud advertising statements. When choosing a mediator, you need to focus on the following:

  • How many years the carrier has been in the industry. If the company is old enough, it is more than 10 years old, and it has established itself well, this already speaks of the company’s competitiveness and its budget, which also plays a role, but this will be discussed a little later. Young firms can cope just as well with the tasks assigned to them, but, as a rule, they do not have a large number of partners, they cannot offer a sufficiently high service and a wide choice of vehicles and routes.
  • Company budget. The larger it is, the better, and here’s why: companies are required to insure cargo, but if the carrier’s capital is small in case of damage or loss of goods, you will not be able to recover its full cost. Most companies, at best, pay only half of the losses you suffer. That is why it is better to contact large carriers that can compensate for damage by 100%.
  • A large carrier has a lot of partners, due to which it can offer not only a faster, but also a more profitable financial service.
  • Always look at customer feedback, even large companies can have a variety of problems that will certainly be reflected by dissatisfied customers. The more negative reviews, the more dangerous it is to contact the carrier.
  • Transport selection. A reliable carrier may not have all types of transport, for example, there may be no rail transport. This does not mean that the company cannot cover everything or provide a quality service. This only indicates that the carrier has focused exclusively on more advantageous positions, which it develops to the maximum.

You can also take into account the reviews of friends who have already used any companies. It is worth remembering that how quickly your cargo will arrive at its destination depends on the reliability of the carrier, and whether it will arrive at all. In addition, the cost of the services of companies affects the final price of the goods you sell.
