About the service:
International sea transportation is one of the most optimized, cost-effective and popular methods of cargo delivery in international logistics.
The relevance of sea transportation in modern Ukraine is explained by the development of the infrastructure and the convenient geographical location of the country with access to the waters of the Black and Azov seas. The advantages of sea transportation of goods are undeniable:
- relatively low cost of transportation
- large load capacity
- unlimited bandwidth
- the single legal and legal field has been around for 400 years.
Sea transportation is used both as an independent method of cargo delivery and as a segment of multimodal logistics (transportation of cargo by sea + rail, air or road transport).
Container transportation of goods takes the second place in terms of the volume of transportation by sea. The worldwide use of containers of standardized sizes allows the use of specialized transport for their transportation (container trucks), as well as shortening the time for loading and unloading operations.
Militzer and Münch Ukraine GmbH provides a range of services for the organization of sea container transportation. We take full responsibility for the delivery of customers’ goods and ensure the control and preservation of goods during the entire journey. Types of containers used for international sea transportation
By ordering sea container transportation from the “M&M” company, you get complete freedom of choice and options when choosing containers. We work with all types of large-sized and multi-turn containers for the organization of multimodal transportation. Due to the generally standardized dimensions, fastening systems and high structural strength, they facilitate loading and unloading without requiring the goods to be moved separately. An additional advantage is the possibility of a quick change of transport — prompt unloading from the ship to a car or second platform for passage to the final delivery point.
Organizing international container transportation, we use different types of containers:
Universal
Multi-purpose structures are the most common type of large-sized container used for sea transportation. They are rectangular metal boxes with a rigid structure designed for heavy loads. The composition is based on a strong frame made of metal profiles. Rigid walls are made of profiled steel sheets. All connections and joints are sealed to exclude the ingress of water and dust.
International sea transportation using such containers allows you to deliver packaged and unpackaged goods of small and large sizes. Loading and unloading is provided through doors that fully open access to the interior space from the end side. The doors can be on both sides or in the side part.
The view includes many subspecies of different capacities and sizes. The most common are multi-purpose containers of 20 and 40 feet.
Bulky
Cargo transportation by sea may involve the transportation of raw materials or materials in bulk. In case of large volumes, ships with special isolated dry cargo docks are used for embankment. Bulk containers are used to prevent routine spilling processes. In terms of design, they resemble universal ones, but differ in inspection, loading and unloading hatches. Due to the identical unification of dimensions and fasteners, they can be easily moved to the truck platform for further delivery to the final destination.
Platforms
Container sea transportation allows you to conveniently transport heavy and long cargo, eliminating complex loading and unloading processes. The structures consist of a strong platform and vertical racks without side walls. The end walls are complex or schematic. Such a layout allows you to place details, parts of buildings, equipment, machines, etc.
Thermal insulation
Container transportation is often required for the delivery of consumer goods that do not require special storage conditions, but are sensitive to critical temperature changes. In such cases, thermally insulated containers are used. By design, they are identical to the universal type. The difference in thermal insulation of the metal shell, due to which a stable temperature is maintained inside.
Ventilated
Shipping cargo by sea does not always require isolation of the contents. In some cases, the opposite effect is needed – free access of oxygen inside. An example can be the transportation of animals, plants, and chemicals. In such cases, containers with ventilated holes in the walls are used. In terms of shape and size, they repeat the universal ones.
Refrigerating
Refrigerating containers are used when it is necessary to ensure a stable temperature inside. For this, they are equipped with reliable insulation and a refrigeration unit. In addition, a diesel generator can be provided for complete autonomy and uninterrupted operation. This type of container is used for transporting frozen products, medicines, vegetation, chemicals, etc.
